Farnsworth Roofing was engaged as the roofing contractor for the redevelopment of the existing building at 121 Gill Street, New Plymouth, now known as Toitū House, the home of Toi Foundation.
Working alongside Cleland’s Construction, we contributed to a comprehensive building transformation that extended beyond a typical refurbishment. The project included seismic strengthening and a complete interior upgrade and fit-out, resulting in a versatile, welcoming hub that supports community, collaboration, and inclusion.
Toitū House is more than an office; it’s a purpose-built community hub. The upper levels provide flexible spaces for team hui and day-to-day mahi, while Toitū Te Huatahi on the ground floor offers a welcoming environment for community groups, not-for-profits, and kaupapa-driven organisations.
Designed in partnership with Ngāti Te Whiti, mana whenua gifted the building’s name and helped shape the cultural narrative embedded throughout the spaces, ensuring Toitū House reflects the identity and aspirations of Taranaki.
